• To use Startup Manager with Jasik's Debugger, turn off the "Show Invisible Extensions", "Protect Against Erasure", "Wrap Icons", "Reserve System Heap Space", and "Disable Crashing Extensions" options.
Startup Manager 3.0.1 update changes:
• Hitting cancel in the Links dialog no longer causes the Startup Manager file to grow inexplicably.
• Startup Manager is now somewhat faster during its boot-time scan.
• Startup Manager no longer displays Control Panels such as Mouse and General in its startup list, since these Control Panels don't run at startup.
• Startup Manager now only runs new extensions if the "run new extensions" check box is checked.
• Startup Manager no longer crashes if the caps lock key is held down while clicking on the Prefs button.
• Startup Manager now handles the case where a click requires one INIT to load only if another is present, i.e. SM will not allow Super Boomerang to run if CEToolbox is not present, and it will now explain this in clear terms.
• Startup Manager now turns off all INITs if you select them all and click "Off". (Note: an easier way to turn all INITs on or off is to hold down the option key and click on the On or Off button.)
• Under System 7, Startup Manager will not allow you to configure more than one extension of the same name and type, placed in two different folders. To get around this, rename one of the INITs.
3.0.2:
• Startup Manager only consumes approx. 2K of memory permanently, rather than 16K as before. (This memory is used to perform system heap expansion and to report INIT loading order to Profiler-like utilities.)
• Startup Manager now informs the Finder of changes it makes so that turning an extension on or off shows itself in hte Finder immediately.
• Startup Manager's heap expansion now takes effect before every extension is loaded.
• Startup Manager's extension list draws substantially faster on 32-bit Color QuickDraw machines.
• Various problems concerning heap expansion under System 6 have been resolved.
• Startup Manager now correctly duplicates the Run All and Skip All groups.
• New groups in Startup Manager are now created with no extensions running.
